'Star' Peace Officer Survives

Edwin Gomez
The show, which can be seen on Sundays at 6 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), began airing on January 29 on the Telefutura Network. That's Channel 17 for Cablevision subscribers in the Bronx.
The first show kicked the contest off with a two-hour premiere, featuring auditions held in different states and an explanation of how the candidates were selected. The second show included clips of each contestant being surprised with the news of his or her selection. The competition did not begin in earnest until the third episode, when contestants began performing for the first time before a live audience and a panel of four judges. Members of the public vote in the selection process by dialing a particular telephone number for their favorite performer.
Officer Gomez auditioned for the show last fall and received the surprise announcement that he had been selected during the College's annual holiday party.
The next show airs on Sunday, March 5. Check back periodically on Lehman E-News for updates.
