Celia Cruz HS Students to Perform at Lincoln Center on May 11

Students from the Celina Cruz Bronx High School of Music participate in a workshop given by Peter Flynn ("Lumiere" in the Broadway production of "Beauty and the Beast").
For the second year in a row, students from the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music will perform as part of Lincoln Center's "School Music on the Plaza" program. This year, their performance time has expanded to two hours, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 11.
"It is an honor for us to be asked back," says Dr. William Rodriguez, principal of the high school. "It gives the students a chance to showcase what they've learned throughout the year."
All the various ensembles in the school will participate, including its concert band, two choruses, string ensemble and jazz band.
The new school was established in Fall 2003 as part of the New Century High Schools Initiative and provides a music-intensive program. Lehman is a lead partner in the school, and students take their music instruction on the Lehman campus.
