Getting Smart About Credit Workshop April 6

Credit Card
Lehman College will continue its series of free financial planning workshops for students and members of the surrounding community during the month of April.

Lehman is one of six participating colleges in the CreditSmart Initiative, a program funded by Freddie Mac and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) that is designed to inform students and their families, as well as the community, about banking practices, debt management and other aspects of personal finance.

Workshops will cover topics such as debt management, understanding credit cards and credit scores, banking practices, avoiding credit traps and how to purchase a home. Freddie Mac and HACU have developed bilingual reading materials for the workshops, which started at Lehman last year and so far have attracted close to 100 students and nearby residents. The next one will be held on April 6 in the East Dining Room, from 1:30-4 p.m. Another workshop is scheduled for April 13, also in the East Dining Room, from 6-8:30 p.m.

For more information on the workshops, please call the Lehman Office of Career Services at 718-960-8366.
