Tragedy
- Special Page of Hope and Remembrance:
Alumni and friends of the College continue to forward information and condolences

- A town in Ireland raised $9,100 for the memorial fund established by New York Fire Department Squad 41 in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. The Bronx Information Network at Lehman made it possible for the two groups to meet.
- "The World After September 11, 2001." Prof. Edward F. Bergman (Geology & Geography) has written an essay that provides information and historical background to help understand the events that have occurred and their economic and political ramifications. The essay supplements his textbook on world geography Introduction to Geography, which is published by Prentice Hall.

- Ongoing Memorial Tributes: On November 5th, Lehman College planted
200 daffodils throughout the campus, which will bloom this spring in memory
of those who lost their lives on September 11th and in its aftermath. Among
those victims were four who lost their lives in the attack on the World
Trade Center: senior Yvette Moreno, 24, an employee of Carr Futures, and
Lehman alumni Stephen Belson, 51, a New York City firefighter with Ladder
Company 24; Betsy Ramos of the Class of 1992, a computer manager who worked
on the 100th Floor of Tower #2; and Alan Richman of the Class of 1979,
who worked for Marsh and McLennan. On October 28th, the Lehman College
Community Band dedicated its concert, "American Wind Music: Something
Old and Something New," to the victims of the September 11th tragedy,
as well as to the memory of the late Prof. Jerome Sala.
- Unity Concert. On November 30th, the Lehman College Dance Program presented a Unity Concert featuring professionals in the field of music and dance who shared the stage with the Lehman College Student Repertory Dance Company. The recital was presented as a celebration of life, in memory of those who lost their lives, and in honor of those whose bravery and fortitude carry
us forward.
The program featured the American Repertory Ballet performing a duet by Director Graham Lustig; the Sheila Kaminsky Dance/Theatre in "I Forgot to Remember to Forget;" Joan Miller's Dance Players (the resident dance company of Lehman College) performing a selection from their current repertory; Martial Roumain's "Elegy" performed by Donna Clark of Alpha Omega Dance; Manolo Medino, former member of the Graham II Ensemble, presented "Tiger" from his recent tour to Chetumel, Mexico; and Gusti Ayu Sri Armini, a soloist with the Balinese American Dance Company, in residence in the United States for a year to teach at the Indonesian Consulate in New York City, performed "Peyembrahaman," an offering to the gods to descend and bless the space.

of the Year, urges Lehman students to "defend our way of life with
your knowledge, determination and resolution to improve yourself."

- Anonymous Donor Salutes Contributions for BMCC: Lehman contributed
more than 400 tablet armchairs (the type used in classrooms) to Borough
of Manhattan Community College to furnish temporary classrooms. The College
was also designated as the receiving and storage facility for furniture
and other items donated to BMCC by colleges and companies across the U.S.:
Heartland Community College (Normal, IL), Luzerne County (PA) Community
College, Western Michigan University, Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh,
and KI (Kruger International) in Green Bay, WI. Altogether, this donated
material filled five tractor-trailers.
The armchairs, as well as other material contributed from throughout
CUNY, were delivered to BMCC on September 26, 27 and 28 to facilitate its
reopening. These deliveries, along with a shipment of donated audiovisual
equipment on October 3rd, were made by laborers and maintenance staff from
Lehman's Buildings and Grounds Department, escorted by officers from the
College's Public Safety Department. The donations that are still being
stored are expected to be delivered sometime in January. While making the
October 3rd delivery, the Lehman "B&G" staff wore tee-shirts
provided by an anonymous donor, which carry the Lehman logo and read "God
Bless America. Ground Zero." The manufacturer learned of the work
being done to help BMCC - where his own daughter is scheduled to graduate
this semester - and donated the shirts out of gratitude. The Lehman staff
members continue to wear the shirts on campus as an expression of their
pride in being able to contribute to the reopening of BMCC.
- Screening Days Conducted by Counseling Center: The Lehman Counseling

as group discussions, both in their offices and in individual classrooms,
for students, faculty and staff. Students can receive professional counseling

Gym Building, room 114. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday
through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

York City Blood Center.
