Guidelines for Langlit Faculty and Staff about e-mail:


To get your account on the college Alpha server, for e-mail etc. at the college and at home:
Go to the Computer Center Help Desk with your CUNY ID Card to request an account on the Alpha server.
You get your username and password.  Keep both safe.  Do not forget them or lose them, do not share your password.
Please give your username = login  to our secretary.

To get students' e-mail addresses:
1) Many students have commercial e-mail addresses but may also like to have a free college account which entitles them to some free downloads. Every semester at registration, students are automatically supplied with accounts on the Alpha server.
If your students would like a Lehman account, they must also go the computer center Help Desk with their CUNY Card.
Urge students who use WebTV to get a Lehman account.  I find that WebTV identifies my e-mail as spam and bounces it back.

2) Ask your students to give you their e-mail addresses.  Remind them that they are case sensitive.
