How to Create a New Study/Project and Submit in IRBNet

  1. After Logging in, follow the steps outlined in the presentation <pdf> to create and submit your NEW study/project in IRBNet.

    Please NOTE the following:
  • All NEW studies/projects (studies being submitted in IRBNet for the first time), must include the “CUNY – Application for Approval to Use Human Participants in Research Part I,” through the “Designer” page by clicking on "Add New Document" and is the first option in the "On-Line Document" tab.  New studies/projects must also include either a "Request for Exemption" or “Submission Form – Initial Application – Part II” found in the “Designer” page under "Step I".
  • All new studies/projects must include all pertinent documents, including, but not limited to (as applicable): procedure outline, consent forms, consent/recruitment/phone scripts, recruitment material, questionnaire(s), data collection tool(s), appropriate clearance/approval from other institute(s), etc.
  • For student projects (e.g. graduate students, doctoral students, etc.), you must “share” your project with your faculty advisor in IRBNet.  Your faculty advisor must “sign off” on the study BEFORE it can be submitted to the IRB.

How to Create Subsequent "Packages” (continuing review, modification, etc.) and Submit in IRBNet.

  1. After Logging in, follow the steps outlined in the training presentation <pdf> to submit a continuing review, modification, etc.  These instructions ONLY apply to studies that were initially submitted in IRBNet.

    Please NOTE the following:
  • All NEW submissions (studies being submitted in IRBNet for the first time), regardless of type (continuing review, modification, etc.), must include the “CUNY – Application for Approval to Use Human Participants in Research Part I,” found in the “Attach Document” page of the “Designer” page.
  • All continuing review submissions, in addition to the continuing review request form, must include, as applicable, the most current IRB-approved documents: protocol outline, current IRB-approved consent form(s), “clean” (unstamped) consent form(s), recruitment material(s), script(s), questionnaire(s), etc.
  • For student projects (e.g. graduate students, doctoral students, etc.), you must “share” your project with your faculty advisor in IRBNet.  Your faculty advisor must “sign off” on the study BEFORE it can be submitted to the IRB.
