CMP 770: Compiler Construction.
4 hours, 4 credits. Modern techniques of compiler design and construction. Topics from Lexical analysis, preprocessing. Grammars and their specifications, parsing techniques. General considerations about top-down and bottom-up parsers. Recursive descent, predictive parsing. LALR (1) grammars and parsers. Error recovery. Intermediate languages and intermediate code generation. Optimization techniques, flow analysis, value numbering, constant propagation, linear test replacement, hoisting, dead-code elimination. Storage mapping, register coloring, spilling. Code generation. PREREQ: Data structures.
