3 hours, 3 credits. Sets of orthogonal functions; Bessel's inequality, Parseval's theorem; Fourier series, convergence criteria; the Fourier integral; Laplace's equation, Bessel functions, Legendre functions, spherical harmonics; and calculus of variations. PREREQ: One course in advanced calculus.
