How it feels to have an operation...Trudy's picture

I've had lots of operations on my stomach and intestines. After the operations, my tummy is sore. Have you ever done lots of sit-ups for gym? Try doing fifty or a hundred sit-ups all at once. Do them with your knees bent the way your gym teacher shows you so that you don't hurt your back. The next day your stomach muscles will be sore.
They will hurt when you get up from sitting in a chair, or when you laugh or cough. This is sort of how it feels after an operation.

My brother visits me when I am in the hospital. He does silly things that make me laugh. That makes my stomach hurt. The nurse told me to hug a Teddy Bear against my stomach whenever I laughed. That helped to keep my stomach from hurting so much.

Yours truly,
Trudy
