I Am
by
 Amanda

I am a girl who likes to dream.
I wonder if I'll ever get better.
I hear butterflies fly.
I see angels with wings.
I want to be able to run.
I am a girl who likes to dream.

I pretend I can fly with the birds.
I feel a waterfall.
I touch the stars up so high.
I worry about myself.
I cry when I hear what's going to be happening to me.
I am a girl who likes to dream.

I understand what's true.
I say I wish it didn't happen, but it did.
I dream that God is with me.
I try not to think about it.
I hope I will be okay.
I am a girl who likes to dream.

I hope that you'll join me in sending warm thoughts to Amanda. She's receiving both medications and radiation, working hard to get rid of a brain tumor (when I published this in 2000). Her teacher sent this poem because Amanda thought that you might want to read it on Band-Aides. My thanks to Atmara Cloe for the use of her lovely angel, a copywritten work of art.
