Announcements, News, Conferences, and Calls for Papers

The journal Mind has celebrated the centenary of Bertrand Russell's landmark essay 'On Denoting' with a special centenary issue devoted to the essay. The October 2005 'On Denoting' Centenary Issue of Mind is edited by Stephen Neale and contains articles by Ray Buchanan and Gary Ostertag, Richard L. Cartwright, David Kaplan, Saul Kripke, Alex Oliver and Timothy Smiley, Nathan Salmon, Stephen Schiffer, and Zoltán Gendler Szabó. Contents of this special issue can be viewed here.

Calls for Papers

The Bertrand Russell Society is accepting submissions for the 2008 Eastern meeting of the APA, to be held in Philadelphia December 27-30, and the Central meeting of the APA (location TBA). Papers should bear on or exhibit some connection to Russell's life or work and not exceed what can be read in 30 minutes. The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2008 for the Eastern and June 15, 2008 for the Central. Send abstracts to: rosalind.carey@lehman.cuny.edu

The History of Early Analytic Philosophy Society (HEAPS) similarly invites talks for the 2008 Eastern and 2009 Central meetings of the APA which address issues, persons, and developments of early analytic philosophy from a historical perspective.
