Q1. What processes will be affected by CUNYfirst?
A. There are three main areas in which new processes are being implemented:
  • Human Capitol Magangment: the Human Resources module in CUNYfirst. (Base HR Processes, Employee Self Service Base Benefit Processes, Recruitment and Payroll (interfaces with NYS and NYC).
  • Campus Solution: the student information system module of CUNYfirst.
    (Academic Structure, Course Catalog, Schedule of Classes, Student Financials, Student Records, Financial Aid, Admissions, Faculty Self Service, Advisor Self Service, and Campus Community)
  • Finance: General Ledger, Procurement (Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Expenses), Planning and Budgeting, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, and Cash and Deal Management.
Q2. What’s the URL to login to CUNYfirst?
Q3. What are the password requirements for CUNYfirst?
A. Your password must be::
  • at least 8 characters long.
  • contain at least 1 uppercase letter.
  • contain at least one numeric char OR one special character.
  • must not be one of 4 previous passwords.

Note: Your password will expire 90 days after the last password change. The system will prompt you to change your password.

Q4. Which browser is recommended for CUNYfirst access?
  • For PC's Internet Explorer is the best choice.
  • For Mac's CUNYfirst will also work on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
Q5. What do I do if I forget my password?
A. Visit the CUNYfirst website, choose “Forgot your Password,” and follow the instructions.
Q6. Does CUNYfirst work on Macs?
A. Yes, but you have to use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome
Q7. Is CUNYfirst available from home?
Q8. How will I be trained to use the system?
A. In a number of ways. If you have a job that requires you to have everyday access to the system, you will be trained in a classroom setting by your peers.

CUNYfirst training is based on a model called “Train the Trainer.” Professionals from throughout CUNY learn how processes work, and train individuals how to do their work

Q9. Will I receive training on all CUNYfirst processes?
A. No. In CUNYfirst, you are assigned roles based on the work you do.

Those roles are determined by managers and supervisors who are translating your current work into CUNYfirst functions. You will receive training to perform the exact tasks you need to do your job—no more, no less. If it is determined you need training on functions outside your role, your managers and supervisors will make sure you get it.
Q10. What if I can't access certain areas on CUNYfirst site to do my work in Campus solutions?
A. This may be because you don't have the proper security roles.



Human Resources Questions


Q1. What do the Human Resource processes/features allow me to do?
A. A major feature is its self-service functions, allowing faculty and staff to view portions of their HR records, including a listing of current chosen benefits.
Q2. How do I find out more about the Employee Self Service and Training?

A. Once you log in, you can click on Self Service to view, update, and/or make change requests to their Human Resources personal information within the CUNYfirst system.

Q3. Is there any personal information that cannot be changed through Employee Self-Service?
A. Everyone is encouraged to check to make sure his/her data are correct including spelling of the name, addresses and family information.

If anything is incorrect, contact the Lehman Human Resources Office. Information such as your Social Security number, and any name changes and new degrees cannot be changed through Self-Service, but must be confirmed by the Human Resources Office.
Q4. Can I have more than one role in CUNYfirst?
A. Yes. For example, let’s say you are a faculty chairperson. You will have access to CUNYfirst Student processes needed to do your job in your department. You may also have access to Human Resources processes in your role as someone who manages people or can hire new employees.

You will have access to all functions with one sign-on in one integrated system.
