The Jaime Lucero Mexican Studies Institute 8th Annual Conference
"Arte y Cultura: Revitalizing the Cultural Heritage of Indigenous Peoples in NYC" is a two-day event composed of conferences, panels and talks that will contribute to the visibility, promotion, teaching, and learning of national indigenous languages of México!
The goal of this year’s annual conference is to promote a conversation between those in NYC and Mexico engaged in efforts to revitalize indigenous languages. It will further provide an opportunity to update researchers on the progress of language revitalization and serve as a venue to discuss the serious issues that indigenous immigrant communities are facing in New York City.
For this occasion we have invited speakers and panelists to address topics such as: threats that NYC indigenous languages face, exchange of experiences, and talk about projects regarding indigenous language revitalization in immigrant communities in NYC.
