College Now Summer Program

The College Now Summer Program consists of two academies, Summer Multimedia Arts and Summer Science. All classes meet on the Lehman College campus Monday through Thursday during July and August. The cost of the program is FREE since College Now will cover the costs of tuition, books, lab expenses for science courses, lunch and transportation (MetroCards only).

Summer Multimedia Arts Academy

This academy provides qualified high school students the opportunity to take college credit courses in multimedia arts, theatre, and mass communication fields. Students will take college-credit courses in new media arts, audio-visual production, theatre, television production or journalism. The courses will provide an interactive hands-on learning experience as well as an exposure to the humanities. Students will receive 4 college credits for successful completion of their academic work and will be involved in a multimedia production as part of the Summer Multimedia Arts Festival. 

Note: Only students who can complete the full six weeks of the program should apply.

To be eligible to participate in the Summer Multimedia Arts Academy, students must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a NYC Public High School student who will be a junior or senior in the next academic year.
  • You must have received a 75+ on the Common Core English Language Arts (ELA) Regents Exam or a 480+ on the SAT Evidence Based Critical Reading section, and an overall HS average of 80+.
  • You must have passed all other required math, science and history regents exams for graduation requirements and not be required to attend summer school.

Note: Interested students who are taking the ELA Regents exam in June are encouraged to apply and may be conditionally accepted pending the Regents exam results. Students will bring an updated transcript with Regents results to registration.

Summer Science Academy

This academy provides qualified high school seniors (as of  next academic year) with an unique opportunity to study Principles of Biology: Cells and Genes (BIO 166, 6 hours including lab, 4 credits), or General Chemistry I, II & Lab (CHE 137 & CHE 138, 6 hours including lab, 6 credits) or Principles of Geographic Information Science (GEP 205, 4 hours, including lab, 3 credits). These classes are college credit lab science courses. Note: The Geographic Information Science course is a computer mapping and analysis course that is being utilized in research in the natural and social sciences.

Note: Only students who can complete the full five weeks of the program should apply. 

To be eligible to participate in the Summer Science Academy, students must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a New York City Public High School senior in the next academic year.
  • You must have received a 75+ on the Common Core English Language Arts (ELA) Regents Exam or a 480+ on the SAT Evidence Based Critical Reading section, and an overall HS average of 80+.
  • You must have received a 70+ on one Common Core Math Regents exam AND have successfully completed three years of Regents level math including Algebra/Trigonometry.
  • You must have passed all other required math, science and history regents exams and not be required to attend summer school.
  • Students applying for BIO 166 who have met the requirements above, must also have 75+ on the Living Environment Regents exam and have successfully completed a high school Regents Chemistry course (not necessarily Chemistry Regents exam).
  • Students applying for CHE 137/138 who have met the requirements above, but have NOT successfully passed the Chemistry Regents exam or have NOT successfully completed a high school Regents Chemistry course will be registered in Section CN1C-R.
  • Students applying for CHE 137/138 who have met the requirements above AND have successfully passed the Chemistry Regents exam with a 65+ will be registered in Section CN1C-H.

Note: Students that are taking any of the above Regents Exams in June are encouraged to apply and may be conditionally accepted pending their Regents Exams results. Students will bring an updated transcript with Regents results to registration.

Our Summer Program is ongoing until August 10, 2017. Please prepare to apply for Summer 2018, applications will be available on April 2018.
