She then transferred to Lehman and began learning numerous design and animation programs along with multiple coding languages. Along with working towards creating her third 3D animated short, she is currently looking for graduate programs to continue her education.

Jose Avendano

My name is Jose Avendano and as of right now I'm 17 years old. I took the Digital Imaging class in order to expand my prior knowledge of Photoshop and other Adobe products. I've been working with Photoshop and learning how to use the program independently for about 2-3 years. Although I've had experience with Photoshop, taking Digital Imaging corrected things to speed up my work flow. This course also introduced me to web developing and the processes behind coding.  These are things that I've always wanted to touch upon. I hope to find a place in the Art and Technology industry and turn my passion into a career.

Johairi Bernard

Hi! I’m Johairi Bernard and I’m 16 years old. I’m born and raised in the Bronx with a Dominican heritage from both of my parents. In my free time I like to read, practice on the piano or guitar, and play and watch sports. My favorite sport is softball.  I’m currently a junior in Dewitt Clinton High School and I decided to participate in the College Now Summer program because I wanted to do something over the summer instead of staying in my house all day. During the summer I enjoyed and do not regret picking Digital Imaging as my first choice. This program expands my mind with different programs such as Photoshop, the language of coding, InDesign and so many other programs. It’s really helpful for me to plan out for the future because it’s never too early to seek out your dreams.

Kayce Capellan

My name’s Kayce, pronounced “K-C”. However, some may call me “Case” “K.C. Undercover”, or “Kay”. Misspell it with “Casey”, “Kacey” and even “Keicy”. I am 16 years old currently attending the Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx, going through the shortcuts and dead ends of the road that we call life. In the Digital Imaging class, I came in everyday with the doubtful mentality of “Technology sucks, you cannot do this. This is a dead end, Kayce.” Nonetheless, throughout the class I have learned the shortcuts and new paths of the technology road. Proud, and simultaneously amazed every time I have learned something new; thus, a new path on the road of life.

Rogelio Chavez

Hi my name is Rogelio Chavez and I am a College Now student for the Digital Imaging course. I chose this course because for my career I wish to work with graphic design and things like Photoshop, which I find really interesting and want to learn more about. I am 16 years old and I currently attend Bronx Prep Charter School. This following school year I will be a senior and I am pretty nervous yet excited. My favorite sport is soccer, which I play and watch, and my favorite player at the moment is Messi because to me he is the best and he has been my idol for many years.

Carys Dixon

I’m simply a fifteen year old girl with a lot of personality! My name is Carys Dixon and I am currently attending the Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx as a junior. Education being my first priority in life, I have an extreme interest in the arts and sciences and yearn to study psychology, sociology, or musical theory in the future. In my leisure time, I enjoy playing my guitar, bass, and keyboard, and I love to eat and sleep.

Qasim Fiaz

Hello. My name is Qasim and I am 14 years old. I am going to be a junior next year in New World High School. Living in my home country, Pakistan, I always got to experience more stuff but with little technology. Coming to America changed my point of view of observing things as design and a technique that everyone should learn.

Ayanna Victoria Gadsden

I go by the legal name of Ayanna Victoria Gadsden. I am currently 17 years old. I have two siblings, one of whom is a girl named Eva; she is 10 years old. The other sibling is a boy named Anthony; he is 15. My mother, who is the best mother in world, is named Denise and her age is confidential. I promise I didn’t forget. I have a dog named Blizzard and she’s like my best friend who I love to play with. She’s a pitbull. Those people, and dog, are what make me who I am today. As a hobby I love staying inside and reading, but I also have a deep passion for skateboarding. Music keeps me alive which is why you will almost never see me without headphones. I strive to succeed in life but be happy at the same time as well as make my mother proud. I stay positive and push myself to do what I have to do in life. I am very happy with what I have now and I plan to keep it like that for myself.

Christian Medina

And so you're here reading my bio, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing interesting enough to show myself as an impressive writer, but just like that, out of simplicity and patience, I was able to be skillful in Photoshop, web design, Illustrator, and many more programs used in such a complex world. I had to learn the simple things to make the incredible doable. This class has taught me those basics, and with it I will create masterpieces. Christian Medina. Remember that name, you'll hear about me in the future.

Suanette Mojica

I go by the name of Suanette Mojica. I came to the Bronx from Puerto Rico when I was just 4 years old. My mission ever since is to try as hard as possible to go back to PR, be able to make a living, and change it for the better. (If you don’t know, Puerto Rico is currently in turmoil and I would want to be a part of the change over there. #vivapuertoricolibre - check it out!) Ever since I was young, I have been developing certain “abilities” beyond my reach, viewing things in different perspectives and high consciousness. My goal in life is to create experiences for different audiences through art, poetry, stories, and other things I do, combined with the knowledge and experiences I gain as I grow. I will say that I am not a person that can be held to certain standards or put in a ‘box’. I cannot be defined because I am diverse, I am unpredictable, and will go beyond my limits to break any barrier holding me in. A.S.A.P. [Always Strive And Prosper] for life.

Tooba Nawaz

Hi, my name is Tooba Nawaz. I’m a 16 year old high school student. I’m from New World High School. I’m interested in making henna design and Korean k-pop music and dramas. I participated in the College Now Art Program because I am good in drawing. Also, my high school ELA teacher referred me to this program. I’m a Muslim and I love my religion. I love my family.

Christine Owusu-Ampah

As a growing youth, there are many things I will like to accomplish but I believe it impossible with out allowing myself to grab opportunities that are open for scholars like me. My name is Christine Owusu-Ampah and I attend New Visions Charter High School for Advanced Math and Science. Having an opportunity to be in this program is an achievement that describes my education and credentials. My dream is to be an entrepreneur and some day I hope to inspire others.

Sandra Rivera

Art isn't as appreciated as much as it should be. More people should give credit to the amazing talent that others create. There are many ways to express the creativity of art and the definition itself is too precious to be seen as lesser than other activities, such as sports. I personally am in love with the different types of art styles that are out there, whether it's poetry, digital imaging or painting. It's a way to express ones ideas or self and a lot of people are afraid of that. I am 16 and I love to write as much as I can. I also love to read; a fan favorite of mine is “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.” It taught me a lot and just by reading it, it showed me a different writing style, one I wasn't quite aware of. Although every writer is different, that's what fascinates me. I think that's all there is to me, I'm just all about writing and to me it's perceived as one of the most important arts there is out there.

Gabriel Josiah Rosado

My name is Gabriel "Gabe,GibGibs, or Tree" Josiah Rosado. Yes GibGibs because that name was given to me years ago and holds meaning, and yes Tree because I’m tall, 6 feet approximately, and because my friends sometimes call me that anyway. I’m a rising senior at Discovery High School on the Walton Campus. I took the “Art Of Theater” class for the summer College Now program in 2016. I am an Aquarius, and I love water (maybe because my Zodiac sign is the water bearer). I enjoy swimming, tennis, and soccer, watching anime and playing video games. I love meeting new people, which is part of the reason why I participate in Opening Act (a drama or theater club that practices improv) as an extracurricular activity at Discovery. I enjoy acting but I plan to pursue science to become an anesthesiologist in the future.s

Johana Salazar

I’m a rising senior at Discovery High School in the Walton Campus and I’m 17 years old. I am interested in the field of psychology. Psychology to me is a way to understand certain individuals better if you understood their reason to behave the way they do. I also enjoy reading since it enlightens my imagination. I maintain myself surrounded by the people that are always joyful and are full of life. To me reading is a key to strengthen your mind and your vocabulary.

Ariany Santana

Hi, my name is Ariany Santana. Well that's just half of my name but we're not getting into that here. I am a College Now student, but you probably already know that since you're reading this. Besides that here are some things you may not know about me. I took AP Calculus this sophomore year; it was really tough. You may think I’m lying. How can a 15 year old be enrolled in Calculus? Well I took Regents in middle school that's how. Anyway what I’m trying to say is I am a VERY hardworking individual with big dreams and every time I have the opportunity to reach that dream I take it. That is why I’m in College Now, so that I have an advantage to getting where I want to go in life.

Emily Vazquez

My name is Emily Vazquez. I’m fifteen years old in the 11th grade at the Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx, and I was born and raised in the Bronx. I absolutely love art! Some of my hobbies include doodling, drawing, and painting. I’m also quite active; I’m a member of the track and field team in my school.
