* INS35: Property and Casualty Insurance: New York State License Preparation Course
The Insurance Agent and Broker’s Course
is for individuals preparing to qualify for
the New York State insurance license examination.
This course, approved by the New York
State Insurance Department, meets the education
requirements for the New York State
examination for licensing as an agent (#115
Insurance Law) and as a broker (#119
Insurance Law).
The class meets Wednesday evenings and
Saturday mornings.
Highlights of the program include: general principles; fire insurance; automobile insurance; general liability; workers’ compensation; burglary; fidelity and surety bonding; the insurance law; marine insurance; miscellaneous casualty policies; and health and accident insurance policies.
NOTE: Students are required to attend 100 percent of instructional sessions.

Real Estate License Qualifying Courses
The Real Estate Salesperson’s Course is a N.Y. State-approved* course for individuals who are preparing to sit for the real estate salesperson’s licensing examination. RES 32 meets the new 75-hour requirement for the salesperson’s license.
In order to satisfactorily complete this course, students are required to attend a minimum of 90 percent (67.5 hours) of classroom instruction, exclusive of sessions devoted to review and/or examination and must pass the final examination.

Topics include: license law and regulations; law of agency; real estate instruments; estates and interests; real estate financing; land use regulations; introduction to construction; valuation; human rights and fair housing; environmental issues and real estate mathematics. 5 CEU

Continuing Education for Real Estate Salespersons and Brokers
Licensed real estate salespersons and brokers are required to complete 22 1/2 hours of New
York State-approved continuing education every two years to renew their licenses. RES 51
fulfills this requirement. RES 56 covers 3 hours of Fair Housing and Discrimination as
required by the N.Y.S. Department of State.
NOTE: Licensees registering for Continuing Education courses who wish to receive credit
towards fulfilling the license requirement must submit a copy of their real estate license at
the time of registration.
* RES53: Current Issues in Real Estate: Real Estate Financing, Taxation and Fair Housing
This course addresses the issues of real estate finance, fair housing and the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Code of Ethics. Topics include: mortgage financing; Fannie Mae and secondary market standards; disclosure requirements; current trends in mortgage lending; Fair Housing, Federal and New York State laws, HUD standards of discrimination, enforcement procedures, special situations and review of NAR guidelines; review of ethics based on NAR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice effective January 1, 2008, including clients and customers duties to the public and to other realtors. No exam. 22.5 hours. Students must attend 100 percent classroom instruction to receive credit.
NOTE: Current Issues in Real Estate includes Fair Housing and Discrimination. Students enrolled in RES 53 should not enroll in RES 56: Fair Housing and Discrimination.
*RES56 Fair Housing and Discrimination
This class covers three hours of Fair Housing and Discrimination as required by N.Y.S.
Department of State. Topics include: Fair Housing and Discrimination; Brokers’ and
Agents’ Responsibilities; Federal, State, and City Laws; Types of Discrimination and dealing
with it; Case Studies including situations that may arise and solutions. Pending State
Approval. No exam. 3 hours. To receive credit, students must attend 100 percent of classroom
instruction.

* NPT10 Notary Public Exam Preparation
This workshop helps participants prepare for the New York State Notary Public Exam. Topics include duties and functions, laws, terminology, and ethics. Copies of notary public license laws are provided. N.Y.S. requires that an applicant be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen at the time of appointment.

Certified Licensed Employee Benefits Assistant (C.L.E.B.A.)
The scope and costs of employee benefits programs have increased. They are now an integral part of the employee compensation program and trained specialists are needed within the human resources department and in other organizations. Skilled employees are also needed in insurance companies, brokerage offices, doctors and hospital offices etc.
The certificate program for the Certified Licensed Employee Benefits Assistant provides training for business/human resources management students, individuals working in the human resources or insurance fields, or individuals looking for a career change. It includes the principles, terminology, design, operations, administration and distribution of employee benefit plans.
The Certificate Program consists of two parts:
Part 1: Principles and Practices in Insurance and Pension Benefits
This course covers health, dental, disability, and life insurance plans, pensions and retirement
programs, executive compensation, public insurance and pensions under social security, the legal
environment. Articles from Contemporary business media illustrate the principles using real
world examples.
Part 2: Life Insurance and Accident and Health Insurance: New York State License
Preparation Courses.
These two courses are approved by the NYS Insurance Department
and prepare the student to sit for the NYS Life Insurance Agent and Accident and Health
Insurance Agent licensing examinations.
Students who complete both Part 1 and 2 and pass the NYS Licensing exam for Life Insurance and Accident and Health will be eligible for a certificate as a Certified Licensed Employee Benefits Assistant (C.L.E.B.A.) Part 1 and Part 2 may be taken concurrently.

Management of Residential Properties
Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) Program
The Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) Program is a two-part program that provides training in multi-family property management with emphasis on privately owned rental, co-op and condominium properties. It is sponsored by the National Apartment Association and fulfills the New York State requirement for certification of apartment managers. It is also approved by the Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Part I must be completed prior to registering for Part II.

IRS Enrolled Agent Preparation Program
An Enrolled Agent is a tax professional who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants, are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, which types of tax matters they can handle and which IRS offices they can practice before.
The program fulfills the educational requirements of the Internal Revenue Service to sit for the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE) which is a three-part examination. Those who pass both the examination and a background check are then designated Enrolled Agents. Students who do not have an accounting background should enroll in CFM 43: Fundamentals of Accounting
