The Lehman College women's cross country team captured their first championship
of the season, by finishing first in the Bard Invitational. Lehman accumulated
104 points, ahead of College of St. Joseph's who finished with 128 points in
the field of eleven teams.
The Lightning were led by stand out junior Amy Ruston who finished first overall
with a course record 22:47.43 for the 6000 meter event. In second place was
Annie Ortiz with a time of 24:41.83
Rounding out the first place team were twin sisters Olga nd Lianee Torres, Joy
Browne, Shawane Williams and Shirley Arietta.
“The team is really starting to gel." said Lehman head coach Lesleigh
Hogg. "These meets are preparing us for the CUNY championships in October."
