Getting started...

1. Researching Programs

The first step for students should be to start learning about the different programs that Lehman and CUNY has to offer. Lehman students are not limited to Lehman sponsored programs and should also consider programs sponsored by schools not only outside of Lehman but also CUNY. Students are encouraged to consult a Study Abroad Advisor during this process.

2. Researching Scholarships & Financial Aid

Students are encouraged to learn about the different scholarship opportunities. These can greatly defray the cost of study abroad and at times, cover all the costs. Scholarships are competative and may require that the student be interviewed by a Lehman campus scholarship Visit the STOCS website

  • Research all the IIE** administered scholarships and fellowships (i.e. Gilman, Fulbright, Boren)

3. Choosing a Program

Find at least three comparable programs (Use chart in our Checklist PDF file)

4. Applying to a Program

  • Visit sponsoring school’s website and print application form
  • Fill out application
  • Mail and/or e-mail application

5. Advising and Course equivalencies

  • Print description of course/s
  • Make an appointment with the Study Abroad Office
