Esther Cortorreal is the Administrative Manager for the Graduate Program in Public Health at the Health Sciences department at Lehman College.  She serves in this position since early 2010. Ms. Cortorreal manages all the MPH Program’s operations including facilities and property management, scheduling, purchasing, managing financial operations and budgets, coordinating technology, and equipment. She also directly interfaces with the Business Office at Lehman College.

Ms. Cortorreal comes to this position with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Accounting Specialization from Concordia College and earned her M.S. degree in Business Administration, Finance Specialization from Lehman College.  She has over twelve years of experience in administration of which over five of them have been in Higher Education.  Besides her professional career in administration, Ms. Cortorreal also was a Head Volleyball Coach for several years.

Donna Covington-Hargrove, MS

Donna Covington-Hargrove is the Academic Program Specialist for the Master of Public Health Program at Lehman College, which is a part of the CUNY School of Public Health Consortium.  She serves in this position since April, 2011. Ms. Covington-Hargrove works closely with the Director of the program, the admissions office, MPH Advisory Board members and our Alumni Students. Ms. Covington-Hargrove oversees the operation of new student orientation, MPH Alumni Services, schedules events for students current and alumni, creates brochures for the MPH Program. 

Ms. Covington-Hargrove comes to this position with a B.S. degree in Sociology, MS in Education both from Fordham University.  She has over 20+ years of Higher education administration experience.  Ms. Covington-Hargrove motto is “Education is not received, it is achieved.

Deborah Rubin, MS, MPH

Deborah Rubin is the Admissions Director for both the Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work programs at Lehman College.  She has served in this position since early 2007, shortly after both programs began and has participated in their steady growth. 

As Admissions Director she recruits and advises prospective MPH students, conducts information sessions, reviews applications and works with faculty from Lehman College’s public health program, and the CUNY School of Public Health of which Lehman is a part.  She also works closely with staff from Lehman College’s Graduate Admissions Office to facilitate the application, admission and enrollment process.

Ms. Rubin holds a B.A. from Yale University, and earned both an M.S. (in Social Work) and an M.P.H. from Columbia University.  She has nearly thirty years of experience in health and social service organizations where she worked directly with clients, supervised staff and graduate students, and reviewed and wrote grant proposals in areas that include gerontology, substance abuse, disability programs and mental health services. 

Ms. Rubin teaches Introduction to Social Work as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Lehman’s Social Work Department and serves on several college-wide committees.  She has also presented on issues related to admissions at state conferences.

Julissa Cruz

Julissa Cruz was hired by the Department of Health Sciences in November 2008 as a College Assistant and was promoted as a CUNY Office Assistant in March 2009.  Ms. Cruz earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Lehman College on January 2007.   Her duties include: scheduling Departmental courses, serving as a liaison between the Interim Dean of Natural of Social Sciences and the Department Chair, and providing administrative assistance to all Health Sciences students and faculty. 

In her spare time, she enjoys community engagement activities such as being part of the Lehman Edible Garden located behind Schuster Hall and Gillet Hall.  She also enjoys participating in the Annual Revlon Run/Walk, which raises funds for cancer research.
