Online Tutoring
The ACE offers online tutoring in writing and as of the Spring 2013, it is piloting online tutoring in Sociology 166, 300, 301. Additionally, this spring the SLC is piloting online tutoring in Chemistry 114.
The online writing tutoring service enables Lehman students to receive tutoring in writing from any computer terminal with Internet connectivity. Students can submit their work for feedback from a writing tutor, ask questions, and communicate with a tutor in real time or via email tutoring. (The availability of real time or email tutoring may vary by semester. Students who apply for online tutoring will receive information about what mode of online tutoring is available.) Students must have a valid Lehman email account to access the online tutoring services.
The online sociology and chemistry tutoring service enables Lehman students to receive tutoring in the supported classes from any computer terminal with Internet connectivity. Students can communicate with a tutor in real time using Blackboard's Collaborate. Students wishing to receive tutoring for the select sociology or chemistry courses in which online tutoring is offered must have a valid Lehman email account and access to their CUNY portal account. They must also have access to a computer that meets the specific technical requirements.
Registering for Writing and/or Sociology Online Tutoring
To register for online writing tutoring, students need to stop by the ACE (Old Gym Building, room 205) to request an online tutoring account and to obtain instructions for how to access these services. To register for online sociology tutoring, students may return the online sociology 166, 300 and 301 tutoring application 4.18.13 [PDF] to the ACE (Old Gym Building, room 205) and then obtain instructions for how to access this service.
Registering for Chemistry Online Tutoring
To register for this chemistry online tutoring, students must stop by the SLC (Gillet Hall, room 133) to pick up and complete the online tutoring registration form, or call the office (tel. 718-960-7707) to receive the registration form and other important documents. Additionally, students have registered for online chemsitry tutoring, they should continuously check their email and Blackboard for important announcements concerning their registration and Blackaborad Collaborate session.
As with all of our services, online tutoring may not be available during the winter and summer intersession, and when the College is closed. For information about the availability of online tutoring, please call the ACE at 718-960-8175.
