Humanities, Social Sciences, and Writing Tutoring
Academic Center for Excellence (ACE)
The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) offers workshops and tutoring for undergraduate and graduate students seeking to improve their skills in writing, social sciences, and humanities subject areas. We can provide weekly, or one-time, individual appointments with a tutor, and we also offer walk-in tutoring in writing, and for social sciences and humanities courses. Walk-in tutoring hours vary by semester and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Academic Center for Excellence is located in the Old Gym Building, Room 205. The ACE's phone number is 718-960-8175.
Regular tutoring hours during the fall and spring semesters are the following: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Center is not open for tutoring when classes are not in session and when the College is closed. It may, however, be open for scheduled workshops. Please call the Center to confirm workshop hours.
There is no tutoring for Summer Session II. The ACE and SLC will open for tutoring on September 8, 2015. Please stop by the ACE (Old Gym 205) to begin registering for Fall 2015 tutoring on August 31st.
Tutors are generally available in the areas listed below. We offer tutoring by appointment as well as walk-in tutoring (primarily in writing, but also in social science and humanities courses on a more limited basis). Please contact us if you do not see listed the area in which you need tutoring.
