New Updates on Safety Nets!
Safety Net for Newly Operational Single Subject Content Specialty Tests (CSTs):
For the 14 new CSTs being released in November 2016, this Safety Net allows candidates to take and pass either the revised CST or the predecessor CST. This Safety Net expire June 30, 2019.
The following are the single subject content tests to be released in November 2016:

Safety Net for Current Redeveloped CSTs:
This Safety Net allows candidates who apply for certification on or after October 18, 2016 or who have a pending certification application to also take the revised or predecessor CST. This Safety Net for the current redeveloped CSTs will expire June 30, 2017. The following is the list of CSTs that are covered under this safety net:

|Literacy||Multi-Subject: Teachers of Childhood (Grade 1 – Grade 6)|
|Gifted Education||Multi-Subject: Teachers of Middle Childhood (Grade 5 – Grade 9)|

Extended Safety Net for the Multi-Subject CSTs: Secondary Teachers 7-12:
In order to be eligible for the Multi-Subject 7-12 Safety Net a candidate must pass Part One (Literacy and English Language Arts) and Part Three (Arts and Sciences) and fail Part Two (Mathematics).

Candidates who fall under the Multi-Subject 7-12 Safety Net must complete a mathematics tutorial. Once the Candidate pass Part One and Part Three and fail Part Two Pearson will send them the tutorial. Upon completion of the tutorial the candidate will receive an attestation form via e-mail to complete, then submit to New York State Education Department- Office of Teaching Initiative, along with an official undergraduate transcript, attesting that they have completed at least one college level mathematics course (3 semester hours) with a grade of B (3.0) or better.

The Multi-Subject 7-12 Safety Net was implemented retroactively and will apply to anyone who has failed the Mathematics part of the CST, but has taken and passed both Part One and Part Three. This Safety Net will expire June 30, 2018.
