TEACHERS

Math Instructor and Math Tutor

The Workforce Education Program is seeking Math instructors and Math tutors for a pre-Algebra/Algebra and an introduction to Statistics and Reasoning course in the spring of 2017. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday evenings at Cuny on The Concourse.

Qualifications:

  • Instructor: A master’s degree in mathematics or related area and relevant teaching experience working with adult students. Salary is based on adjunct pay rate.
  • Tutor: A bachelor’s degree is preferred but we will consider a senior majoring in mathematics with flexible class schedule and some tutoring experience. Tutor must be able to work in class on Mon/Wed and be available for additional evening hours during the week and on Saturday mornings for individual tutoring sessions. Salary is $28.00 per hour.

Children and Teens

The Lehman Academy:  Programs for Children and Teens offers a wide range of classes on Saturdays in the fall and spring and on weekdays in the summer. Students (ages 4-16) are grouped according to age and grade level in classes in academic skills, the arts (art, music, dance), computing, test preparation, sports, and swimming.

 We are seeking instructors for 2016 in the following areas: reading, writing, math, computers, science (elementary school, middle school, and Regents), Spanish, French, Italian, test prep, soccer, and swimming (American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification and current CPR certification required).

Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree preferred for academic subjects) and relevant teaching experience with children and teens.

Cisco Academy

The Cisco Academy offers professional certificate programs for in-demand information and communication technology jobs. Our curriculum is approved by the Cisco Networking Academy. We are seeking teachers who are Cisco Certified Instructors to teach the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Associate (CCNET), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programs and CCNA Security. Classes are held day, evenings and/or weekends.

Computing (Macintosh)

For professional certificate programs in Macintosh applications, we are seeking teachers for prerequisite courses in basic and advanced operation of Macs. Teachers are expected to create confidence in using the Mac to prepare students for advanced applications. Classes are held evenings and weekends.

Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required.

TASC Preparation

TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) replaced the GED as the official no-cost exam in New York State for receiving a high school equivalency diploma. The exam covers reading, writing, math, and science and social studies within a literacy framework. Teachers prepare students to sit for the exam at the completion of the course. They will determine the students’ levels, create lesson plans, use teaching methods to help each student master the content, cover test-taking strategies, and administer practice exams. Classes are held evenings and or weekends.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Experience teaching reading, writing, and/or math at the secondary level or above.

English as a Second Language

The ESL Institute provides instruction to native and international English language learners at all levels of proficiency in reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills. Classes are held days, evenings, and weekends.

Master’s degree in TESOL or related experience or TESOL certification required.

Lifeguards

We are seeking certified lifeguards year-round for a well-established aquatics program for adults and children in Lehman College’s Olympic-size pool. Classes are held evenings and/or weekends during the fall and spring and also days during the summer.

Qualifications

Current CPR and lifeguard certifications required.
