Certified Medical Assistant Instructors
The School of Continuing & Professional Studies is seeking part time instructors, who can teach in our Certified Medical Assistant program. Courses include: Fundamentals of Medical Assisting and Medical Office Business Practices.Classes meet in evenings and Saturdays.
Job duties:
- Prepare for each course to be taught from syllabus consistent with course descriptions
- Impress upon each student the importance of exhibiting appropriate conduct in the work setting
- Acquire feedback to determine whether students understand each segment of the course
- Maintain academic standards consistent with a professional certificate program
- Evaluate students' progress often and share those evaluations with them promptly
- Be available to students with concerns
Requirements:
- Current Certification as a Medical Assistant
- BA or BS degree
- At least (3) years of experience in the field
- Excellent customer service skills
- Teaching experience preferred
- Flexible schedule required.

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) of Lehman College of the City University of New York enrolls over 12,000 students annually. For over forty years it has provided quality degree and certificate programs to the local community, employers and labor unions in addition to international partners.
The SCPS consists of three integrated units: the Professional Studies Program, or Adult Degree Program, that offers a bachelor’s degree to meet the needs of adults with family and work responsibilities; a Continuing Educations program that offers professional certificate programs and courses for those seeking to change careers or advance in their current position, as well as personal development courses; and the Bronx Small Business Development Center, which has assisted thousands of clients interested in starting a business or expanding their existing businesses.
The SCPS has become a leader of workforce and economic development in the Bronx as well as the New York metropolitan area. Its workforce and economic development programs run across all three units and serve as pathways to each one.
Primary Responsibility
The primary responsibility of this position is to write grants, concept papers and respond to RFPs in the areas of workforce and economic development.

Specific Responsibilities
- Actively research and identify workforce and economic development grant and funding opportunities of private foundations, corporations, government agencies and labor unions
- Write project-specific grants
- Conceptualize projects and develop them into successful proposals
- Track progress of grants and fulfill all grant obligations
- Write interim and final reports
- Maintain contact with stakeholders
- Attend relevant meetings for grant applications and RFPs
- Keep current on status of developments in workforce and economic
development

CASAC and Social Work Coordinator (Part-Time)
The CASAC and Social Work Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and expansion of the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) program at Lehman College. The program includes both clinical and administrative components. In additional, the coordinator will work on areas of continuing education course development and program administration in the field of social work.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and developing courses for the CASAC program.
- Preliminary scheduling of each semester’s classes, workshops, seminars.
- Hiring, supervising, observing faculty in program.
- Providing basic orientation to teachers.
- Recruiting and advising students.
- Identifying clinical sites for the 350 hours of supervised practical training.
- Insuring compliance with OASES guidelines
- Suggesting marketing strategies to increase/enhance enrollments.
- Investigating opportunities to expand program.
- Following up with current students and former students to insure completion of certification.
- Maintaining records and filing for compliance with state certification requirements.
- Researching and developing grant and other funding opportunities for their program as appropriate.
- Developing continuing education course offerings and credentials in conjunction with the Department of Social Work.

CISCO Certified Instructors

Tax Preparer Instructor
Instructors needed to teach in the Tax Return Preparer Certificate Program. Topics include how to prepare basic individual forms (tax credits, deductions and tax consequences); 1040 series and wage income forms taxation for different types of income (small business, rental investment, and retirement) and more complex tax returns, including capital gains tax. The certificate program is designed to teach individuals including new and experienced tax preparer the basics of how to prepare individual federal and state tax forms. The emphasis is on practical learning through class exercises and real examples.
The course is a 30 hours and runs two nights a week in the fall.
Requirements:
- Enrolled Agent
- At least 15 years of practical tax preparing experience.
- Familiarity with the rules and regulations regarding state and federal taxes.
- College degree
- Knowledge of new IRS Competency Exam
- Knowledge of PowerPoint required

Continuing Education Teacher

Lifeguards Wanted Year Round
