The knowledge and skills needed for those aspiring to become fullcharge bookkeepers are provided in this program. Opportunities for employment are available in a variety of organizations and businesses. Students may complete certificate program and complete an application or enroll in individual courses.

IRS Enrolled Agent Preparation Program

The Enrolled Agent is a tax professional who has earned the privilege of representing tax payers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled Agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants, are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, which types of tax matters they can handle and which IRS offi ces they can practice before.

The program fulfills the educational requirements of the Internal Revenue Service to sit for the Special Enrollment Exam (SEE) which is a three-part examination. Those who pass both the examinations and the background check are then Enrolled Agents.

Students who do not have an accounting background should enroll in CFM 38/38: Business Bookkeeping I/II

The Lehman College Entrepreneurship program allows you to earn a certificate or take individual courses to learn from practitioners what it takes to be a succcessful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm at CUNY on the Concourse (COTC).

Certified Financial Planner/Personal Financial Planning

This 225-hour Certificate Program in Personal Financial Planning (PFP) presents techniques to formulate and execute comprehensive financial plans that assist clients in accumulating, conserving and transferring personal wealth.

Requirements for CFP® Certification:

Students who successfully complete the program may apply for the CFP® certification exam. In addition, passing the CFP® Certification Examination plus fulfilling experience, undergraduate degree, and ethics requirements can lead to certification by CFP board, granting the individual the right to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP® certification marks. Detailed requirements for CFP certification can be found at www.CFP.net.

Prerequisites: 60 college credits required; completed bachelor’s degree preferred; functional knowledge of financial analysis techniques and a basic understanding of economics. Program certification: In order to receive a program certificate, students must complete a program application ($25), successfully complete all course requirements listed at the time of applying, and submit a certificate request form ($4).

Property and Casualty Insurance

The Property and Casualty Insurance Agent and Broker’s Course is for individuals preparing to qualify for the New York State insurance license examination. This course, approved by the New York State Insurance Department, meets the education requirements for the New York State examination for licensing as an agent and as a broker. Topics include: general principles; fi re insurance; automobile insurance; general liability; workers’ compensation; burglary; fidelity and surety bonding; the insurance law; marine insurance; miscellaneous casualty policies; and health and accident insurance policies. Textbooks must be brought to first class. NOTE: Students are required to attend 100 percent of instructional sessions, pass the course with a grade of “C” or better and final exam with a grade “65” or better, in order to be eligible to sit for the State licensing exam.

Wedding and Event Planner Certification

The Wedding and Event Planning Certification course includes planning, coordinating, and directing weddings, as well as a study of the business structure, documentation information, contracts, how to work with vendors, marketing, and how to work with prospective brides and grooms. *Fee includes textbook, online access in additon to classroom instruction, testing and national certification from the Wedding Planning Institute. Beauty Techniques & the New Revolution on Hairstyling & Haircutting/Skin Care/Make-up/Manicure & Esthetics

This program is taught by Charito Cisneros, a Cosmetologist Professor for 32 years and the Founder/President of the New York Hispanic Cosmetology & Beauty Chamber of Commerce. She is also a leader in
the Hispanic community, and hosts her own television program. She has also appeared on various shows including Telemundo, Radio “La Mega” and Univision. All classes are held at CUNY on the Concourse (COTC), 2501 Grand Concourse, 3rd fl oor, Bronx, NY 10468.

Students may register for individual classes or complete the program. Program Tuition: BIC 10/$665. Register for all 3 classes and save $50!
