Latin American and Puerto Rican Studies

Mexican and Mexican-American Studies Minor

LAPRS has introduced a brand-new minor: Mexican and Mexican-American Studies. Were you or your parents born in Mexico? Or have you always had an interest in knowing more about the country that neighbors ours or the fastest growing immigrant group? Did you know the Mexican-origin population of New York City was the city’s fastest-growing Latino national group between 1990 and 2005? If these trends continue, Mexicans will become the largest Latino nationality in the City in 2035. Specialists with a background in Mexican and Mexican-American studies are in greater demand than ever, and LAPRS offers a new, top notch program.

To find out more about the program, schedule an appointment with an adviser or fill out a minor declaration form, located on the Advising page.
