Learning Goals & Objectives Dance-Theatre BFA
Upon completion of the BFA in Dance-Theatre, students will:
1. Have an understanding of the historical and aesthetic evolution of culturally diverse forms of dance and theatre
Objectives:
Demonstrate knowledge of theatre history
Demonstrate knowledge of dance history
2. Think critically about contemporary performance
Objectives:
Demonstrate the ability to analyze a script
Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of specific dance traditions
Demonstrate the ability to discuss and critique dance performances
3. Have the ability to devise and produce their own performance pieces
Objectives:
Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of the choreographic process
Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of various types of physical movement
Demonstrate the ability to control the vocal instrument
Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of selected technical aspects of
theatrical performance
