On Monday, April 24 the Provost's Office will hold a reception to celebrate the publication of Herbert H. Lehman: A Political Biography by Prof. Duane Tananbaum. The reception will be at the Lehman Art Gallery from 4:30-6:30pm. To attend, you should RSVP by April 12 in an email to provost.office@lehman.cuny.edu.

On March 4, Darlene Means, a student in the History MA program, read a paper entitled "Survival as a Form of Empowerment" at a panel on "Resistance and Empowerment" at the 19th Annual Women's History Conference at Sarah Lawrence. The theme of the conference was "Black Women in White America, Revisited."

Prof Robyn Spencer has won a prestigious Andrew W. Mellon Mid-Career Research Fellowship. She is using itto spend this academic year at the Whitney Humanities Center in Yale Universith, where she is researching her new project on African-American involvement in the anti-Vietnam War movement.

Phi Alpha Theta Welcomes Five New Members

Five Lehman History majors have been inducted this spring in Phi Alpha Theta, the national History Honors Society: Starr Butler, Elizabeth Hansen, Jormary Melo, Stephanie Trinidad, and Michelle Zimmer. Get more information on the society, including guidelines on applying for membership.
