Mission and Introductory Statement
Our mission is to service the computing needs for the School of Arts & Humanities. The technology staff unit consists of the technology coordinator and several part-time college assistants. This unit is instrumental in the following service operations:
- Lead A&H IT specialist team for computing services
- Serve as a liaison between the School and Information Technology Resources
- Provide general technical support that includes PC/device troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs, hardware installations, installation of software applications, installation of printers and other peripheral devices and network support not covered by Information Technology Services
- Provide consulting and training services to educate students, staff, and faculty
- Maintenance of computer inventories and liaison between the office of Property Management and the School
- Operations of the Language Lab
- Assist in creating Student Technology Fee proposals, submissions, and materials procurement
- Leadership role in defining and periodically reassessing the computer needs for the School
- Leadership role in ensuring the implementation of new CUNY initiatives, including CUNYfirst
The Technology Team for A&H strives to provide professional, prompt, and courteous service. We understand the diverse needs of the A&H community and value our customers. Our aim is to create a thriving partnership through mutual respect and active communication.
The Core Technology Requirements for Faculty/Staff
The following basic technology needs are defined as critical needs for faculty and staff:
- Access to a reliable, working computer with standard software, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Access to reliable Internet service
- Access to printing and scanning services
- Access to copying and faxing services
- A Lehman College e-mail account
- A CUNYfirst Account
- Access to training where applicable
The dean of Arts & Humanities in his mission statement for the school states, “In the school of Arts & Humanities, Lehman is blessed with a stunningly talented faculty who are deeply devoted to educating our students….” Consequently, we are fully committed to ensuring that the most up-to-date technology resources are available and implemented throughout our computer labs and smart classrooms.
